Cukurova University Balcalı Campus, which was established on 20 thousand-decare terrain in east coast of Seyhan Dam Lake, is a natural park land due to its admirable view. The university, which is only 10 km far from city center, is among major universities of our country due to its modern substructure and modern facilities meeting every requirement of its students and staff. The establishment of the university, which is ranked at the first 500 in gradation of World’s Universities and within the first ten in gradation of our country, was founded in 1973. The university has 19 faculties, 3 Colleges, 11 Vocational Schools of Higher Education, 1 State Conservatory, 4 Institutes and 38 Research and Application Centers.
Nearly 2300 teaching Staff offers education to about 56000 students.
Being the biggest Vocational School of Higher Education of Çukurova University, Adana Vocational School of Higher Education, in Beyazevler Campus, serves about 6000 students with 48 academic and 28 administrative staff in 15 departments of both formal and distance education. It aims to educate well-trained and talented staff in that country needed branches; the interface between engineers and technicians to meet the need for manpower and professional staff, modern and high quality. In the organisation, whose education and training periods lasts for two years, students graduate with the title of technician and professional staff. It promotes training in the departments of Computer Technologies, Electronics and Automation, Electrics and Energy, Technologies of Heating, Cooling and Climatisation Systems, Audio-Visual Techniques and Media Production, Nursing and Care Services, Construction, Machine and Metal Technologies, Material Processing and Material, Motor Vehicles and Automotive, Accounting and Tax, Hair Care and Beauty, Travel, Tourism and Entertainment, Textile-Clothing – Shoes and Leather, Food Processing and Wholesale and Retail Departments as formal education and also in the departments of Computer Technologies, Accounting and Tax Applications, Child Development, and Electronical Communication as distance education.
Cukurova University has taken part in the EU projects since 2006 and implemented many projects for developing the vocational education and training, adult education and school education as a coordinator or beneficiary. Since the university has many distance and face-to-face educational departments and programs in its system at UZEM, among others, it applied for distance education / eLearning projects such as; “Observing Distance Education Technologies” in Spain, and then “Innovations in e-Learning for Disabled People” in Italy. In 2008, GRUNDTVIG-G11-ILGRECO: “Implementing Learning Games Resources based on Educational Content” in Romania. The following year the school was funded with the Project of “Innovations in e-Learning Programs for Climatisation Systems” in Poland and Italy. In 2012, it took part in two projects; one in Grundtvig Learning Partnership “Building eLearning Bridges” which is about the barriers in eLearning, one in TOI “ESP-English for Specific Purposes/ eLearning”. And in 2013“E-Portfolio System as a Source for Employment of Prospective VET Graduates” was funded and the Project was completed successfully in 2015. In 2014, the university took part in a KA2 Strategic Partnership “LEADER-Learning and Decision Making Resources” project amongst the higher education institutions with its Italian, Greek, Romanian, Spanish and UK partners and completed successfully. In 2015, the university took part as the applicant in KA2 Adult Education Project “Better e-Learning for All”. In 2017 it took part in a KA2 Adult Education Project “New Life- Reshaping Life in a Generous Country” with its Greek, Maltese and Portuguese partners. In 2018, in one KA2 Strategic Partnership amongst the Higher Education Institutions “E-Tutoring –Tools and Web Resources for Study and Career” and one in KA2 Strategic Partnership “Gaming in Action-Engaging Adult Learners with Games and Gamification”. In 2019, in one KA2 Strategic Partnership for School Education “UP2B- Boosting up school education towards European Citizenship and Labour Market Inclusion” and one in KA2 Strategic Partnership for Adult Education “E-Learning Course on Mobile Robotics for Adult Education: The Forth Industrial Revolution”.
